Books and beyond #TheBookBlogTrain

Hola amigos! I’m back again with another piece for #TheBookBlogTrain! This one is the poem (omg! I wrote one, that too with specifications! I’m going to swoon…). But it is one of those not rhyming kind (e.g.: Snake by D.H. Lawrence). I don’t really read a lot of poetry but I quite like reading those of this kind. Tell me, what’s YOUR favourite kind of poetry? Or who’s your favourite poet/poetress? I really wanna know.

Do tell me of any experiences you have or know related to poetry. You see, this is a field I don’t really know much about. I’d love to hear from you.

Here’s the piece anyway… TADAA!

Books & In Between

Book? What’re they?
Pages of text, images
Or,
A series of thoughts.
Just that?

Is it just,
a book is to read as coffee is to sip?
I guess not.
Reading is to feel as sipping is to relish.

I love to read
Just like bookworms,
Bookstagrammers and nerds,
Book bloggers and hoarders…
Like so many out there.

People are so varied.
And so are readers.
Preferences, choices and habits are our own.
Our individuality.
Not only as people,
But as readers too.

United by books,
Divided by…
Nothing that I can think of.
Unite readers, unite!

I love sitting at the window sill
Or curling up in the sofa
With –
A book in my hand.
While I…
I am thrown into another world.
A different world.
A world that varies with the book.

The people are my imagination,
Fueled up by the words of the author.
The words creep in stealthily
And loosen the reigns of imagination.
And the mind goes wild.

The cold coffee goes yet colder.
I take a long sip.
The bittersweet taste firing up
My senses,
The drops dancing on my taste buds.
I relish the sip.

Throughout the journey,
I feel myself smiling at moments of happiness.
I feel myself crying out of despair.
I feel myself shaking with anger.
I feel myself FEELING.

See? I told ya, didn’t I?
Don’t just sip; Relish.
Don’t just read; Feel.

Hey! I have an extra bit of news to share. I had my mom read this and she said the ending is “Darun”(means awesome). This made me so proud! A mother’s praise is always a harbinger of joy. Added to that, she’s in the literature world too. So, I , the already “Miss I am so proud” felt a kind of ‘professional’ pride too. Might sound silly, I know. But I don’t write praiseworthy poems everyday. So, wanted to share this “Small picture” building up behind the scenes!! 😉
See ya’ll around soon!

    1. Thank you so much. I’m feeling so uplifted because of you!! Really.
I don’t force myself to write. I just hurriedly pen down my thoughts when they happen to come. But it’s always easier to “force” yourself to write when there’s a prompt 😁😁
