» SHE « The sunkissed hours pass away In the dreary silence of the night. The setting rays make way For the reign of darkness. › O night! You're a beauty indeed. A queen of a kind, So familiar, yet Unfathomable. ‹ The new moon shines bright, unseen. The stars are in a tumult tonight. Chaotic, yet silent. So bright, yet not bright enough. › Darkness looms in the air As tears flow down her cheeks, Down her neck, Down, down, down,... Into an abyss of sadness. ‹ Darkness blows like a breeze As blood flows down her wrist, Down the open slits, Down, down, down,... Into the abyss of death. › A mind so blank And eyes so cold. No. It can't be. They were so alive Just a few chimes back. ‹ The clock chimes again, yet again. The stars are chaotic even now But the mind isn't. The stars are still bright. But the eyes aren't. Yes, She really is dead. › They say, All good things Are wild and free. If that is the case, Why wasn't She? ‹ A parent lost a kid, A sister lost a lap. A friend lost a support, A lover lost a heart. And the world? It lost a nobody. › The world doesn't care That she lies dead, Like a plankton in the sea. ‹ So, let me tell you something. I am 'She'. ©Oitree Deb

|| DRAPED || The night was quiet And so were the streets Only distant barks could be heard. The road was deserted It was too late to be busy. Suddenly, I felt afraid. Afraid of the emptiness. Not the one that surrounds, But the one I felt within. I traversed that way everyday I knew the roads like my palm. But alas! I forgot Emptiness is the beast's realm. They had been waiting, Waiting for me under a veil. Hidden in the void of society, Waiting for the chance. To pounce on their prey. And I? I forgot there could be beasts. Beasts waiting for me To satisfy their lusty hunger. I let my gaurd down. I was unarmed for a moment. And they got what they were waiting for. These are not the usual animals we know. They're different. They're worse. Just like themselves, Their hunger is two faced : Digestive and reproductive. Wonderful, ain't it? They're worse than animals Animals kill for their mates. They kill their mates. This time, I was the victim. I was raped by a gang. Each tear brightening their lusty smile. Each cry elating their hearts. The events are a blur. Masking me like a painful scar. No one answered my screams. When each of them had taken his turn And felt it was time to end the fun My time came to a halt. One got a bottle of petrol Another got a flame And with that they burnt their shame. Alive. All that remained were my half burnt ashes, Left forever by my scarred soul. I wasn't even allowed to live. I couldn't be accused of exposing my body. I had it all covered. But do you think it matters? Had I worn a saree or a burqa, Do you really think they would have changed their intention? Do you think they would have decided against raping? No dear no. They say clothes are the cause. I will say: clothes are your excuse. Beasts don't know how to count. So age doesn't matter to them Beasts don't know manners. So they're ready to pounce on you Anytime. I see people with candles, Just a wastage of wax. I see newspaper reports, Just a wastage of paper. Yes we bleed. So what? . There are a handful of myths circulating around the fact that we bleed. And none of those are really easy going. The myths had been relevant at their time, but not anymore. Times have changed. And so have minds and lives. Then why not practices? Why do we have to blindly abide by practices which are not compatible with our time? Why does the "society" get to dictate our basic actions, like what we eat and where we pray? . In the name of practice and societal norms, the society has chained women for long. Now, women have learnt to stick up for themselves. Yet, only some women protest. Many don't. Infact, many CAN'T. And why do you think is that? The outlook maybe? Or maybe the fear? The fear of "what will the people say?" "Will the society accept me?".... You see, it's the society again. No one can single handedly change something that's been going on for like ages. We need to support each other. You need to support even if you are a boy. Coz, though you might not get period cramps, your mom and sisters do. And on top of that there's this societal bullshit. . Most people are shy to speak up. They're embarassed of speaking of something that's supposed to be "secret". No man, it's as natural as sneezing. And if you aren't shy of sneezing in public, don't be shy to speak up. If there's one of those crazy guys staring at a period stain on a girl's back, please give them a piece of your mind. They need that. Geez, as if they've got water flowing through their veins. . So what if we stain? So what if we bleed? Yes, we do. And we're proud of that.

এমনিতে আমি ঠিক মিশুখে নই। সহজে লোকেদের নিজের মনে জায়গাও দিই না। মনটা আমার খুব ছোট, স্বার্থপর। তাই খুব কমজনকে জায়গা দিই, আর তাদের আঁকড়ে ধরেই বাঁচতে চাই। এই স্বার্থপরতা কি খুবই খারাপ? । 🌼 খারাপ হলেও আমার বিশেষ যায় আসে না। অন্য লোকের কথায় আমার ভারি বয়েই গেল। আমার কাছে যাদের কথার দাম আছে, তারা সেই সব আপনজন, মনের মানুষ। । 🌼 এদেরই ভালোবাসার ডানার তলায় নিজেকে লুকিয়ে রাখতে ইচ্ছে করে। চিরকালের মতো। ভালোবাসা মানে শুধু মুখের কথা নয়, কাজে ও চোখের চাউনিতে এর প্রকাশ ঘটে। । 🌼 ভালোবাসা কাকে বলে জানো? রাতবিরেতে যখন মশারি খাটিয়েছি কিনা দেখতে মা ছুটে আসে, পাছে মশা কামড়ায়! সেটাকে বলে ভালোবাসা। মা স্কুল গেছে। দুপুরবেলায় নিরামিষ তরকারি। তখন যখন বাবা হাত পুড়িয়ে ডিম ভেজে দেয়, তখন বোঝা যায় ভালোবাসা কাকে বলে। । 🌼 সারাদিন একে অপরের অপমান করে, মারপিট করেও যখন দিনের শেষে যদি কাঁদো কাঁদো মুখ নিয়ে বোনের কাছে মাথা গুঁজি, তখন যেই আদরটা করে, চুলের মধ্যে দিয়ে যেভাবে হাত বুলিয়ে দেয়, তার থেকে বোঝা যায় ভালোবাসা। । 🌼 হাসি মুখ দেখে যখন বন্ধুটি বুঝতে পারে যে মন ভালো নেই, দূরে ঠেলে দিলেও যখন দুঃখের সময় যেচে পাশে থাকতে চায়, তার থেকে বোঝা যায় ভালোবাসা। । 🌼 মা বাবার বকুনি শুনে যখন চোখের জল আর বাগ মানতে চায় না, তখন যখন ঠাম্মা-দাদু মা-বাবাকে বকা দেন, তখন যে কী আনন্দ হয়! আর সেই আনন্দের এক কোণে লুকিয়ে থাকে ভালোবাসার অনুভূতি। । 🌼 মা-বাবার চোখ এড়িয়ে তাঁরা যখন তাঁদের ঝুলি থেকে দুটো নাড়ু, কি একটু চানাচুর, কিংবা একটা মোয়া ধরিয়ে দেন, তখন জিভের জল সামলায় কার সাধ্য। ভালোবাসা দিয়ে গড়া সেই নাড়ু খেতে খেতে হঠাৎ যেন পিঠের মধ্যে দিয়ে এক শিহরণ বয়ে যায়। একেই কি বলে না প্রকৃত ভালোবাসা? । 🌼 জীবনে তো কত কিছু কিনবে। এরকম মানুষের মন কিনতে পারবে কি? পয়সা দিয়ে তো আর ভালোবাসা কেনা যায় না! । 🌼 এবার তুমিই বল, এদেরকে কি আঁকড়ে ধরে বাঁচতে ইচ্ছা করে না? স্বার্থপর না হয়ে কি থাকা যায়? সত্যিই কি এই স্বার্থপরতা খুব খারাপ? । । । ~ ঐত্ৰী দেব

Suicide isn't a solution, is it? But how is a person, to whom life seems worse than death, supposed to stay away from killing himself/herself? 🥀 Depression is one of the leading death factors. And the worse part is that it isn't easy to detect. There are symptoms but in most cases they are inconspicuous. 🥀 So what're we supposed to do? Little gestures can go a long way in battling depression and suicide. On this #worldsuicidepreventionday let's plegde to be a little more understanding and a little less rude to every person we meet. 🥀 Because we never know what the other person might be going through. . . . #qotd What would be YOUR way of dealing with a depressed person?

» || MISSED UNDERSTANDING || . I refuse. Yes, I refuse. To say sorry, To own up That it’s my fault too. 🐠 I have never heard him say straight to my face, all that I hear he has said. But I refuse to confirm. I refuse to ask him. Because I believe people more than I believe him. 🐠 But one day I did hear him. I saw him say those, Right before me. To me. No more confirmation was needed. 🐠 But I was wrong. I regret not confirming. I regret not being true to him, to myself. I regret believing “people”. 🐠 He spoke to my face what he’d heard. People had framed his words and theirs had tainted his image of me. As they did to my image of him. 🐠 I regret not going over. I regret letting people get to him Before I did. I let society be the basis of my evaluation rather than my memories with him. I judged him for what I heard he was Rather than what I knew him to be. I regret it when its of no use. 🐠 And he did the same. After all, the same blood flows through us. Or even if it did not, We’d have still known each other as ‘bro’. Had we prevented society’s interference. 🐠 People were jealous of this bond. So they worked to break it. And we let them. Just like plain water breaks salt into ions, The society plainly broke us, Into arch enemies. 🐠 ‘People’ were victorious in the end, We just lost, thrice. First to society, Then to each other And finally to ourselves. 🐠 Had we just overcome our ego In time, For society, the game would have been over. 🐠 But we didn’t. 🐠 Now, when we have, Society is already victorious. And we? 🐠 We’re each sitting far away, Thinking what the other is doing. Because our phones never connect. And WhatsApp messages seen from the notifications Are never replied to, Nor even marked seen. 🐠 We believe its over between us. We believe nothing can be done. We believe every attempt at making it better will only render it worse. 🐠 So, all we do is sit around As our tears disappear Into the deep trench created. Between us.
